About

A small box of tanoshii things.

"Tanoshii" (楽しい) is the Japanese word for fun. Tanoshiibox is, quite literally, a fun box — a small collection of gentle browser games for families, built with care and served plainly.

Who makes it

Tanoshiibox is an independent hobby project. The games, the artwork, and this website are all made by a small team in Scotland. The mascot's name is Mochi; she's a cat-shaped bean who quite likes being a cat-shaped bean.

How it works

  • No accounts. There is nothing to sign up for.
  • No tracking. We do not use analytics. No Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, nothing that watches you.
  • Contextual ads only. The little adverts you may see are chosen by the page's content, not by anything learned about you.
  • Free forever. Every game is free to play, every day.
  • Your progress stays on your device. Scores and collections live in your browser's local storage. They never leave it.

Who it's for

Families with children aged roughly 3 to 12. The games are small, quiet things — no aggressive difficulty curves, no losing screens that feel like punishment. A child should be able to pick one up, play for ten minutes, and put it down without feeling they've abandoned a mission.

Grown-ups are welcome to play too. We won't tell.
